38729 - Intercultural and diversity management
Participants will delve into understanding culture's impact on business and the importance of cultural awareness.
We will focus on defining culture, its dimensions, and how cultural differences influence business practices and communication. We will be dedicated to cross-cultural communication skills and managing multicultural teams, covering both verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, effective questioning techniques, and strategies for building and managing diverse teams while resolving conflicts and negotiating in multicultural settings.
Furthermore will address unconscious bias and its impact, exploring its origins and effects on decision-making and team dynamics, and will discuss creating an inclusive workplace culture with best practices for promoting inclusivity.
After that, the focus will be on equity in the workplace and the role of leadership in fostering a DEI culture.
Participants will learned about implementing equitable practices in hiring, promotion, and performance management, and strategies for leading diverse teams effectively. The day will conclude with developing personal action plans for intercultural management and DEI practices and sharing commitments and next steps with the group.
In recent years Grant’s focus has moved more from a purely international/intercultural perspective to a more broadly diversity and inclusion perspective which is reflected in his participation in projects aimed at fostering more diversity and inclusion in higher education institutes and in making them zero tolerance of physical and verbal harassment and Grant his work as an expert panelist for the Global Diversity Equity and Inclusion Benchmark.
